Bird Banding Experience

Step into the world of bird research with Avitura and experience birds up close in a way few people ever do. This outing offers a unique opportunity to observe wild birds in the hand while learning how banding helps researchers study migration, movement, age, condition, survival, and long-term population trends.

Participants will be introduced to the purpose of bird banding, how birds are safely handled by trained banders, and what information can be collected from each individual before release. From the fine details of feather molt and plumage to the remarkable journeys these birds undertake, this experience blends close observation, conservation science, and the wonder of seeing birds at an entirely different scale.
