Founder & Lead Guide

Brett is the founder of Avitura, a wildlife biologist, and experienced bird bander whose work has taken him into the field across Canada and internationally. Over more than a decade of field experience, he has worked extensively with birds and other wildlife through research, monitoring, conservation and ecological field programs.

Birds remain at the centre of his work. Brett has banded more than 20,000 birds representing approximately 250 species and is a North American Banding Council certified Bander and Trainer. His experience combines advanced bird identification with a broader understanding of behaviour, migration, habitat and the ecology of the landscapes being explored.

That field perspective shapes Avitura. Brett’s approach to guiding is relaxed, curious and adaptable, with an emphasis on spending meaningful time with wildlife, understanding what is happening around us and allowing each day in the field to develop naturally.

Birding Guide

Bridgette brings curiosity, patience and a genuine enthusiasm for birds and wildlife to every experience. Her approachable style makes the field welcoming whether someone is encountering a species for the first time or simply wants to slow down and enjoy being outside.

She has a particular interest in observing the small details that make time in nature memorable, from behaviour and movement to the changing character of a landscape throughout the seasons. Her guiding style encourages questions, conversation and discovery without making birding feel rushed or overly technical.

At Avitura, Bridgette helps create experiences that are relaxed, personal and accessible, giving guests the space to explore wildlife at their own pace while sharing in the excitement of whatever the day brings.

Birding & Photography Guide

Kyle is a wildlife ecologist, birder and photographer with a broad interest in the natural world. What began with an encounter with an American Redstart developed into a deeper interest in birds, ecology and the many relationships that shape the landscapes around them.

His background in wildlife ecology brings a wider natural history perspective to the field, while photography has sharpened his attention to behaviour, light, composition and the subtle moments that often make wildlife encounters memorable.

Kyle brings that combination of ecological knowledge and a photographer’s eye to Avitura experiences, helping guests not only find wildlife but spend time observing it, understanding it and seeing familiar subjects from a different perspective.
