Testimonials

“My dad and I both had an amazing time with Brett! Our goal for the past couple years of birding has been to finally get him an owl. When I got in contact with Brett, he suggested some places that we go. From the beginning, he was super helpful, knowledgeable, and flexible while planning. During the trip, Brett was incredibly accommodating. We stopped whenever we needed breaks, food, etc! He taught us so much stuff about the birds we were seeing, even for someone like me, with some knowledge already! I was constantly surprised with the facts he gave. He brought a spotting scope, and also a field guide, so we could see each species and learn about them if we wanted. In the end, we saw five different snowy owls, a bunch of raptors, and 3 other lifers for me! Winter can be unpredictable but it helps to have an amazing guide showing you around. The trip was well structured and very fulfilling overall. We’re both looking forward to doing more trips with him in the future! Thank you a billion times over for helping make my dad happy, Brett! And for the lifers!”

Sky Dancers of Spring was an exceptional tour! Having the experience tailored just to my interests made all of the difference, and we were rewarded with excellent, close views of the American Woodcock’s doing their aerial display! The pacing was relaxed, Brett’s interpretation was insightful, and the entire trip felt both intimate and memorable. An experience I would highly recommend.”

Our guided winter raptor tour with Brett was nothing short of extraordinary. Ghosts of Winter truly lives up to its name — an unforgettable experience set against Ontario’s breathtaking open winter landscapes.
From the moment we started checking the snow-covered fields, it was clear this was going to be something special. We had incredible views of majestic Snowy Owls perched against the white horizon, a Rough-legged Hawk scanning for movement below and a bald eagle hunting along the river. We were also treated to stunning sightings of Red-tailed Hawk, Ravens and a Northern Shrike. A bonus was a close up look at a deer and watching a red fox hunt in a farm field. Each encounter felt authentic, unhurried, and deeply respectful of the birds’ and the wildlife’s natural behaviour.
What truly sets this tour apart is Brett’s commitment to ethical wildlife viewing and photography. There is absolutely no baiting or disturbance — only patience, awareness, and a genuine respect for these incredible raptors, wildlife and their habitats. Brett’s knowledge of the species, their behaviours, and the local environment enriched every sighting, helping us anticipate movement and capture meaningful experiences and photographs while understanding the story of winter survival unfolding before us.
The balance of conservation, education, and artistry makes this experience exceptional. Whether you’re a serious photographer or simply someone who appreciates wildlife in its purest form, Avitura delivers a responsible and inspiring adventure. My daughter and I left not only with beautiful images, but with a deeper appreciation for Ontario’s winter wilderness and the magnificent hunters that call it home. Brett’s patience, knowledge and keen eye for spotting birds made this an incredible experience.
Highly, highly recommended — a truly powerful and purposeful way to experience the wild spirit of winter.
